Calvert Manor Residents’ Council Scholarship
Several years ago, the Calvert Manor Resident Council established a scholarship fund with Cecil College to provide opportunities for Calvert Manor employees to pursue a certification as a Certified Medicine Aide (CMA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), or to pursue a license as a Registered Nurse (RN), or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). These scholarship funds were established by our residents who believe in assisting our employees who are dedicated to health care careers.
Funding for the scholarships comes from fundraising efforts by the Resident Council, as well as designated memorial gifts by Calvert Manor families. Contributions made in honor or memory of a resident become part of our Resident Council Scholarship Fund with the Cecil College Foundation.
Calvert Manor employees seeking to utilize these scholarship funds to pursue a licensed nursing degree must undergo an interview with the Resident Council members. Once approved by the participating residents, the employee is eligible to receive funding, in accordance with their length of service with Calvert Manor. In order to retain scholarship funding, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must reapply for funding at the beginning of each academic term. If for some reason, the student/employee is not able to complete the educational course of study, all scholarship funds must be repaid, to the Calvert Manor Resident Council Scholarship Fund.
The Calvert Manor Resident Council Scholarship Fund program is supported by residents, however, Ronald Graybeal, Administrator of Calvert Manor serves as the financial representative from Calvert Manor to Cecil College. If you have any questions, or need additional information about the Calvert Manor Resident Council Scholarship Fund, please contact him at 410-658-6555 or rgraybeal@calvertmanor.com.
