Calvert Manor Residents’ Council Scholarship

Several years ago, the Calvert Manor Resident Council wanted a means to reward our dedicated employees for the loving care they provide. In the early 1980’s they established The Calvert Manor Resident Council Scholarship Fund with the Cecil College Foundation (link to www.cecil.edu). Since its inception, they have assisted dozens of our staff seeking a career in health care fulfill their personal and professional educational goals, by providing financial assistance through this scholarship fund.

Cecil College offers a variety of healthcare programs. Our employees typically choose:

  • Geriatric Nursing Assistant
  • Certified Medicine Aide
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)

To qualify for the Calvert Manor Residents’ Council Scholarship:

  • An applicant must be employees of Calvert Manor with a desire to pursue a career in the healthcare industry;
  • Qualified applicants under go an interview with the Calvert Manor Resident Council;
  • Once selection/s are made, funding is arranged with Cecil College for disbursement of funds directly to the student’s with Cecil College;
  • Exact monetary allotments are based on the employee’s length of service with Calvert Manor and employment status (full-time or part-time);
  • Employees must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 to continue to receive funding;
  • Upon graduation/completion of the educational program, the employee is required to maintain employment with Calvert Manor for a specified time, or is responsible for repaying all scholarship funds received to the Resident Councils’ Scholarship Fund;
  • If, for whatever reason, the employee does not maintain employment with Calvert Manor while receiving scholarship funds, or does not complete the specified program of study, all funds received must be reimbursed to the Resident Council Scholarship Fund.

The Calvert Manor Residents’ Council Scholarship Fund is directed by the residents of Calvert Manor. Ronald Graybeal, Administrator of Calvert Manor Healthcare Center serves as the liaison with Cecil College, on behalf of the Resident Council.
